Frames
Every format carries hurtboxes, hitboxes and events per frame. GIF records the current animation with its backdrop.
Parts none painted
Paint over weapons, shields and flowing cloth so they stop stretching with the body.
Cut-out parts
Stretching at the joints comes from animating one flat picture. Export the character cut into parts, one layer per bone. Paint in what each part hides behind its neighbours (Aseprite, Photoshop, Krita, Procreate…), then load it back: every part moves as a solid piece.
Keep the layer names. The hidden guides layer circles each joint: fill both parts out to the circle so nothing opens up when they turn.
Face
Mark the eyes and mouth so the character can blink, wince and shout without extra art. For drawn expressions, add a layer and set its role to Swap art.
Pick Eyes or Mouth, then paint over them on the stage.
Glow pixels
Runes and energy pulse, flare on attacks and throw sparks.

Touch-ups
Pause on a frame and drag a joint on the stage to fix it. Each fix blends into the frames around it and is saved with the rig.

Pixel fixes
Paint straight onto one frame: a stray pixel, a sharper tip, a cleaner hand. Fixes belong to this move, style and frame, and go into every pixel export.
