A practical walkthrough

Render a 3D character into sprites for your game

Use MeshForge’s included orc, render a small sprite pack for free, and pass it to PixelForge or Sprite Puppeteer.

Open the included orc in MeshForge

1. Open the included model

The launch button opens MeshForge’s bundled orc example with its animation clips. This walkthrough uses local viewing, animation playback and sprite rendering; it does not generate a new model or call a paid service. No provider key is needed for these steps.

2. Pick one useful animation

Use the playback bar to choose Idle or Walk, then play and scrub the clip. Orbit the viewer to understand the model’s front and its silhouette. Starting with one animation makes your first render quick to inspect.

3. Render a modest first pack

Choose Sprites. Start with a side view, one animation, a small frame size and a modest frame count. Use a transparent background for sprites you want to place over your own game scene. Preview the framing and keep the character’s feet inside the image.

4. Choose the next tool

In the sprite dialog, use Then open in. Choose PixelForge if you want a smaller pixel-art palette and outline, or Sprite Puppeteer if you want to inspect directions, refine clips and boxes, or play-test the character. These hand-offs stay inside your browser.

5. Inspect the result and export

In the receiving tool, play the animation and check the feet, loop seam and any weapon or loose parts. In Sprite Puppeteer, pick the engine format you need and preview the packed sheet before downloading. Test the exported result in your game before rendering a larger set of clips and directions.

6. Repeat with your own model

When the small test looks right, add directions or more animations. For a public release, use a model you own or have permission to use. The bundled orc’s source notes describe its Meshy 6 origin and Blender rigging; the CC0 dedication for the separate Sprout Bot starter does not apply to that model.

Render one view and a few frames first. Once framing and motion look right in your game, expand the pack. Generating a new model, paid rigging and optional AI services are separate actions that use your own provider key.
